How To Create And Publish An Article

Here are some basic instructions for publishing an article. This site has been built with the idea of developing a community of creative people who like to share their thoughts and photographs. If you would like to upload photographs and publish articles, then you need to register and let us know by e-mail. To register, click on the apply button. Registering only gives you the ability to comment on previously published articles; to become a publisher, send us an e-mail and we can make you active as a publisher. When you have been set-up to publish, you will find under the "my account link" options to upload photographs and to write an article. Uploading photographs is best done with Firefox. Please note, your account may take up to two business days to be activated.
When you select the option to write an article, you will see three choices: add text block, add image block and add spacer. When you add a text block, a box will open that allows you to add text. You begin by clicking on edit text. You will also notice on the left of the box you can select float left and float right. This will determine were on the page this box will display. The shape of this box can be changed by clicking on the edge and moving the border. By clicking on the top of the box, the box can be moved up and down on the page. The option to add a spacer box was included to help with the placement of your text blocks and image blocks. The spacer can be shaped to any size and can be placed anywhere on the page.
When you choose "add image block" a new window will open that will display thumbnails of the photographs that you have uploaded. Select the thumbnail of the image you wish to insert and drag it to a box at the top left of this window. You can now choose which size you would like the image displayed, either small, medium or large. You can also choose float left, right or center. The image block is used similar to the text block and you can edit the size of the image on the layout page. The image block can also be placed anywhere on the page. There are three types of image blocks: the single image, image rollover and image comparison. The first single image block contained in an article will be displayed as the cover photograph for that article. The cover photograph is re-sized and cropped square so you should take this into consideration when choosing this photograph.
After you have published an article, you are still able to edit and to add to the article. People registered on the site will be able to leave comments in a comment box at the end of the article. The site has also been built so that registered publishers can add to another persons published article. An e-mail will be automatically sent to a publisher if there has been a addition to their published article for them to consider adding and the changes will only be added if the original author consents and publishes them.
